1. Nature of brand logo. Both Supreme and Obey have the same coloration and use word's implying superiority or dominance. However the word "OBEY" when written on a shirt directly suggests that the viewer of the shirt should be in a position of subservience to the person wearing the shirt, while not an active thought, it colors the perception of the garment and results in a quick conclusion of slight negativity in the eyes of those not wearing the brand. "SUPREME" on the other hand implies a general greatness of the wearer and the cloth it's printed on, removing that negative inclination. Furthermore the word supreme, in of itself brings about a sense of general greatness, saying that this is the best there is. Furthermore, the text blocking in OBEY is by length of the word, blockier and therefor cheaper looking than the text ratio of SUPREME.

2. Fact of the matter is that supreme was able to generate artificial scarcity for their products, and in doing so, made a harmonious connection between the greatness of the word "SUPREME" and the perceived worth of the item. The worth imposed on the item effected the dichotomy of the relationship between the brand logo itself, and the general eye, now seeing these SUPREME garments of hight price as a symbol of greatness and power, it was adopted (as many things of monetary status are) by black hip-hop culture, a demographic which has publicity enough to ensure the continued demand for the product, driving prices higher and continuing the cycle.
