This is not completely accurate.

For example, as an actor I tend to fit the archetype of the "alpha male" because of my relationship with my father (overbearing and physically abusive) as well as my childhood experiences doing stereotypical hyper-masculine and dangerous things (pic related).

However, this has not helped me ascend the social structure. For example, often times I am not cast in shows as often as lower-status men. If there is another eligible male that has been acting longer, then I cannot be cast with him, because I am still higher status and our interactions will bring conflict to the forefront. On the other hand, very submissive low-status actors get cast very frequently, because they can work with anybody, and they cede their status subconsciously, which is good for the performance.

This carries over to a lot of other stuff -- at parties, or social events. My lower-status or bi-/homosexual friends are way more socially successful and popular. In fact I rarely get invited to things and my demeanor has resulted to a large extent in social isolation. People don't make fun of me, and they subconsciously recognize that I have high status, but that doesn't mean that they have to like me or appreciate me.

Also -- although it is possible to become very high status, it is not as simple as wearing certain clothes or maintaining some aesthetic. Even financial success is not enough -- hence the common stereotype of a woman having an affair with a poorer "bad boy." Being in life-threatening situations and being in situations where you are responsible for other people's safety, over a period of years, is what creates genuine high status (like being a fire fighter). even if you were low status by birth.
