Gotta get sleep now, Frens. Have a great thread, and treat each other well.

>sorry for the missing words. Druk, you know how it goes.

It depends on the function and social context the watch will perform. Best way to start would be try on as many models as you can and see what sings to your heart. Good luck Fren!

>>18066167
Great pic, CredorAnon!

>>18066192
Stylish and fun!

>>18066225
I saw your post the other day but was too busy. Congrats Anon! Speedies are awesome, and absurdly reliable (though I've never owned a 3861 or any co-axial to date). Pic is my old 321; it has a step dial like yours!

>>18066384
That's an awesome rate!

>>18066522
I think Omega did a great job with the 3861s, though I will always have personal gripes about the design. The shortened lug length is better for the customer base (it'll look better on a larger variety of wrist sizes), the correction of the sub-second hashes is great, and the shortened pushers and slightly larger crown are great. While I like the step dial, I really do wish they brought back the long hour indices; it makes the dial look less squat. I'm not a fan of the SpeedmasterProfessional alignment in a straight style vs. the old pyramid style, and I think a ceramic bezel would have been ideal for the sapphire sandwich version while keeping an aluminium for the hesalite. The bracelet is comfy and looks great in both versions I think, and the new adjustable clasp is an excellent match. Admittedly, I've thought about getting one...I probably will if it makes it to the Moon again.

If you get one, post here and let us know how it performs.

>>18066536
>>18066538
I've used it for its function before at the track. But in daily life it's somewhat useless, agreed.

>>18066546
They should come in soon; I think it's just the release squeeze. I see tonnes of gold/green Speedies now, even though for a while they couldn't be found. Same with the green Seamasters. I don't think the white dial will be as rare as a Snoopy or the Ed White....give it time.

Love it; I was wearing my Nighthawk the other day just because I wanted to. Great watch!

>>18019097
I've always felt it's the normal diver bracelet, as the jubilee seems unsettlingly celebratory for a tool-watch (which the datejust, for example, isn't).

>>18019157
Good luck, and get as much continuous sleep as you can. you'll miss it. Take the BB58; you don't want grandpa watch getting damaged or lost at the hospital when you are going on no-sleep for the 2nd day in a row.

>>18019249
One good reason: it makes you look like a loser.

>>18019271
Good eve; not sure, but maybe a wee nip.

>>18019280
>>18019283

My watch model was on the moon. Several astronauts including Buzz and Neil used 105-012 watches. Kinda like mine.

>>18020045
I find watchcharts to be reasonably accurate, though they still don't have much info on vintage watches that I like.

>>18020053
True, most independents I've come across don't care if it's a fake, though they will inform you that it is a fake (just in case you didn't know before) and if they're good they'll let you know what other cost-saving measures you can take to keep it running, even to the point of dropping in replacement movements that are slightly better (i.e. a new Sellita movement to replace some 90's era shitter from China). As for replicas being close to the real thing...the sad truth is that they are not unless they are a frankenwatch that uses factory parts. You'll see fake Rolii forums where people spend hundreds if not thousands to have factory dials, bezels, crystals, etc. but have a fake movement inside. Sure, from the outside it looks real (because the exterior parts ARE real), but it'll never perform the same way. For those people, it's enough that the watch is real on the outside, but to get it that way, you have to pay quite a hefty sum.

>>18020063
They should; Tags are usually well stocked since they're not in demand. Make sure to go in different emotional states.

I'm flattered that I can contribute positively to the thread!

>>17965837
You have the power to make the forum better by contributing. What are you wearing on your wrist today, Fren?

>>17965850
It always depends on the woman, because if you get them something they don't like, they simply won't wear it. If it were up to me, some dainty Reverso, the Bulgari Serpent watch (because of Rocky IV), or maybe something simple like a Movado or a Rolex datejust with diamonds. Naturally, the woman might prefer some strange Cartier (for the name) or Van Cleef and Arpels (for the name)...

>>17965939
Such beautiful proportions...I really love seeing that watch here.

>>17965945
I like my Citizens; I'd recommend them to anyone, actually.

>>17965946
I am here, Fren. How are you today?

>>17965954

Travel safe, Tudorchad. Hope your vacation is going as well as you had planned, and that you're able to get some rest and relaxation.

Omega prices are excellent in Japan, if you're ever in need. The only thing you have to look out for is water/moisture damage to the lume and hands.

It is my watch, and I definitely didn't go through the Omega Boutique. It's a 105.012-66 HF, which I bought from a lovely gentleman who wanted it to go to someone who would love it as much as he did. I also own an 1861, bought from Japan. Obviously, I love the 105.012 - from my point of view, it's the ideal version of all Speedmaster Professionals: lyre lugs, short pushers, large crown, long indices, applied logo, and cal. 321 inside. There is nothing like it, and it's the same general model as the one worn by Aldrin and Armstrong on Apollo 11 (though theirs were from earlier years and used a CB case).

Yes, right now they are trading around 20k depending on condition; if mine were on the market, it would be around that too due to the original condition, lack of polishing, and condition of the dial and bezel; in particular, the 'ghost' bezel might push it higher, but I don't know if that trend will stay or not. Anyway, I will never sell it, so it doesn't really matter.

It remains the most accurate mechanical wristwatch I own, more because my watchmaker pulled it into my specs and knows my wearing habits than anything else. It's a daily wear, and one that has been with me on several adventures already.

If you're thinking of a vintage 321, the first thing you need to find is a watchmaker that you trust. Then your next goal is to find one on the open market that is as original as possible. Then you need to do your research to confirm the authenticity before purchase, and then you buy and enjoy. There's more, but I could go on and on. Is there something specific you are worried or concerned about?
