I feel like a lot of people mess up when they tie shirts around their waist.
For one, you shouldn't do it so tight, part of the silhouette involves a bit of fluff to the shirt, Tisci noticed this and used puffer jackets in FW 2013.

I think his was a little too exaggerated for my taste though.

Still, that fit pic looks too "neat" , the character of the item you tie around your waist should not look like you stood in front of the mirror making it look perfect, it has to have a rushed look to it.
It gives it a texturous silhouette.
