Preferably looser in general but I think if you uncuffed the current pants and let them stack naturally, it would reduce how bulky the boots look in comparison to your otherwise slim silhouette on the legs.

nah, patterns class. cheap biker jeans are always trashy in my book, they work every once and a while but definitley not here. swap them out for some more plain jeans or chinos, some thick wool pants could be cool here also
