I did a charity art show once that ended up with me delving into the catalogs and companies that produce these very specific metallic notions in all sizes and finishes. I need torsion springs of a certain weight, design and color. The options available to me for something so simple were dumbfounding. There is so much stuff out there.
I think the best thing to do would be to make your own bag, but to do it with the APPROACH that Tom Sachs used. You don't even need to copy his design, you can just figure out something that pulls at your heart strings if you can find the companies, get their catalogs and then salvage some stencil printed burlap or nylon from an army surplus.
All those little straps and doodads can be purchased online from stores in the garment district. The options would stagger you.
