One analogue would be the tendency in areas where participation in a sport is near universal (hunting in the American south and other backwaters, surfing and fishing near the coasts, ski and climbing gear near the mountains) to wear beat up, aggressively optimized pricey clothing for it as casualwear. You know, the whole deal with the entire streetwear game pre-induction into the broader fashion system.
