I got a pair of Uggs for Christmas from my mother. She lives in the south and doesn't comprehend that people could be warm in the winter without being blanketed in shearling. And Neiman Marcus offered monogramming so she couldn't pass them up. I liked the ones with the bows more than regular Uggs. It could be the "special snowflake" in me.

I'll admit that they're comfortable and warm, but sartorially they're the equivalent of flip flops. I feel okay going to get coffee a quarter mile from my apartment in them while I'm writing a paper in the middle of the night. Hell, I'm fine with wearing them to the grocery store or the gym. But wearing them to class, or to hang out with friends, just feels a bit like I've lost control of my life.
