Retinoids should be used at night not because they make your skin sensitive to UV, but because the retinoid itself is sensitive to UV and will become chemically unstable/break down before it's able to work if exposed to daylight. (And temperature. Keep your retinoid/retinol products in the fridge where possible. Otherwise a dark drawer or cupboard.)

Morning:
>Cleanse.
>Toner (pref. Korean or otherwise astringent free.)
>Active serum (if applicable.)
>Moisturizer/cream (your hyaluronic acid/niacinamide cream.)
>Sunscreen.
Night:
>Cleanse.
>Toner.
>Retinol/Retinoid product. Leave for 10-15 minutes to fully absorb.
>Serum.
>Moisturizer/cream.

Once a week take a break from the retinol to use a clay mask and then a hydrating mask (substitute the retinoid's place in your routine and use the other products as normal.)

If you use an off-the-shelf retinol/retinoid product, you can still use a chemical exfoliant like AHA once a week, also. Don't do this with a prescription strength retinoic acid.

If you find your skin is very sensitive at the beginning, ease into the retinoid by using it every second day, then two days on/one day off, and build up to using it every day. It can help.

Wash your pillowcase every week, pay attention to what touches your face during the day, consider a new shampoo/conditioner and your diet. Excess sugars fuck with your hormones and skin.

Not really. They plump the skin up by causing inflammation, and do more damage than good if you don't already have some seriously fucked skin that you're trying to fix. Don't just use one for the sake of it.
