I'm glad I didn't buy a full bottle of Bois Imperial after all. I liked it at first, but it just goes on and on with the same accord forever, I got tired of it quite quickly.
I still find myself prefering good old Terre d'Hermes in the "transparent woody spicy patchouli" category.

speaking of frags "controversial" in this thread - I'm trying out my decant of Bois Imperial today
I don't really get the similarity to Grey Vetiver that much personally. it reminds me more of Terre d'Hermes with that spiciness, minerality and "transparent" modern character, but without the orange. and with that weird akigalawood note that's also in the Kenzo fragrances, but I like it more here
the mineral and spicy elements make it almost savory. strange, pleasant and unique.

I do wonder if this strange, abstract scent smells good to your average person though. my mom hates it, but she hates anything with patchouli. I'll have to ask my GF later this week

I finally got a decant of the legend, and honestly it's nice and all, but I feel some insufficiency, I imagined it to be sharper, maybe greener
yea sure it's woodsy, it's comfy, it's masculine, but I imagined the woody notes to be sharper and rawer, meanwhile they are quite subdued and I also feel some jaguar-ish notes, like with drugstore colognes
well, it's still better than fig infusion but imo it didn't deserve that much of shilling
maybe it's just my skin
