Anyone else remember when this came out? There's some interesting background for those not in the know.

He released this video alongside the project: https://vimeo.com/75534042 . Watch it first.

He was doing several art projects at the time around the theme of internet culture, how you lose yourself in it. He was particularly interested in hikkikomori and fringe chan culture. 2013 particularly was a good time because the general public was just barely scratching the surface of the internet and had no clue what sort of filth they'd be rolling in in 2017.

When he made the film he posted it to /mu/ (I think that was the board) and collected reactions to it. People deeply connected to the video. A lot of users had the same experience of salvation through the internet but increasingly getting into darker and darker shit, eventually unable to get out. Really, this seems common nowadays but it was unique for the time.

The album itself used to be available on youtube, but in a few years it disappeared. The only way to listen to it was to have a physical copy or mp3. It added some mystique.

In any case, it's a great album. I'm wondering what the younger generation will think of it because my generation has a particular meaning for it. We used the internet as an escape, while they grew up with it.
