Ok, so luckily this is how my hair is, too. One thing I can guarantee you is you absolutely have to trim curly hair and you need to condition it properly, too. I think a lot of guys get put off with this but a) it's not faggy to do things like trim every six weeks or so, and b) it's not girly to condition your hair. You need to make the most of what you have, and that's true for everyone regardless. If you have curly hair and you want it long and looking good, then you need to take these steps. Not taking them just makes your hair look straggly and shit, and it becomes counterproductive.

So, again, I put together a composite for you. A lot of what I suggest will come down to your length, too and what your current situation is. So here:

1) This is shorter and a kind of bevelled bob. This really needs cutting by a professional. The problem with this cut is that it'll start to grow out weird so you either have to keep trimming those layers, or you need to let the top layer get to the length you want and then cut the ones below to even up. Long time, lot of faff.

2) Layers - The issue here and why I showed it is this is what happens to a lot of long hair in salons. They just hack layers in and basically ruin it. You really need someone who knows how to cut curly hair because people who don't know what they're doing, layer up like this but you can see the bottom layers are straggly. See how it goes all wispy at the ends? That's wrong. That means the hair is splitting. And if your hair splits, it won't grow at all. A LOT of people - both sexes - make this mistake. They just want length at all costs but then complain "it's not growing". This is why. You NEED to cut this crap out.

3) This guy is doing it right. That's one length, and in excellent condition. No 'rat tails'.

So, it depends on your length. Let me know what you think. If you want to put up a photo of your hair too (block out your face if you want), I can help you further.
