Honestly, there are some good links in the sticky. Poke around and get some knowledge but def try a bunch. Hopefully you live near some stores that give out samples, or at least have testers that you can spray on yourself.

The first two should give you a check list to try of the most popular ones. Bear in mind basenotes caters to enthusiasts who don't mind dropping hundreds of dollars on a bottle, so just ignore the Creeds for now unless you're rich. Honestly, they're good, but I don't think they're 10x as good as a lot of designer frags. Speaking of which, picture related is as close to a top ten as I have. All those have gotten female compliments, except M7. I do tend to prefer more "mature" scents, but I just find frags that are marketed toward young people tend to be too sweet for my tastes.
