Don't get into Birkenstocks now. Their are orthopedic shoes and have always been primarily worn as house shoes, by the elderly or as shoes for the garden.
There has been a short trend that dragged them out of the unfashionable medical and comfort zone into the world of bloggers and celebrities, but that trend is old and dying now. And by the end you'll feel silly because when you said "staring to grow on me" it was actually that influence of seeing them worn in such a socially acceptable fashionable way. And when that's gone you're left with some house slippers.
