Well yeah, the modern suit evolved from the clothing that upper class people wore, which was in turn created as a more refined version from the clothes that peasants wore. So a lot of peasant clothes from that time resemble suits in some way, but are so different to todays standards they wouldn't really look that much like suits if you wore them in the present day.
If I were experienced in sewing I would make my own clothes and exclusively dress in either 19th century peasant clothes or 19th century upper class casual wear like pic related.
