There was an attempt to gentrify metal like they did to rap in the early 2010s, with bands like deafheavan and liturgy. But metal heads fought back against the posers and it failed.

Extreme metal is like the final frontier, once that goes mainstream music is dead. black metal, death metal, grind core, power violence, screamo.

These sub cultures have been ignored or underground for ages
