you see even here how guys get all kitted out with techwear or rick owens to impress, flex, or just feel special relative to who they think of as boring? apply the same concept for women.

conversely, you can also dress to fit in, feel part of a group. lots of guys dress up exactly like other men around them to feel like they belong or are part of a group. this is another way guys dress for guys, just that its the opposite of standing out. again, just transfer this logic to women.

you have a narrow view of fashion. trends in womens wear often precedes trends in menswear. high waist wasn't just something women wore in the past, and isnt something they exclusively will wear in the future. high waist for men is already back and will become more popular, its also a natural reaction to the low-rise trend of the early 2000s.

adidas track pants arent equivalent to white t-shirts. id accept blue jeans as equivalent to a white tee. even basic garments trend in and out over the years. the bomber is a good example. is it a timeless military inspired menswear garment? sure, but there can be no doubt it had particular shine and trend from 2012-2014. take khaki chinos as another example. you know the term chino wanker? same applies here. ok, khaki chinos are a basic item of menswear, but it also had a surge in popularity that will inevitably die.

same goes for adidas track pants. ive noticed a big uptick in celebrities, musicians, and interest in and wear of adidas trackpants here on /fa/ and waywt in the last year, along with hawaiian shirts.

They were trendy about 6 years ago.
