Did anyone else get BOOMER'D and have it fuck up their fashion sense for years and years and years?

I grew up in the Midwest, and like a lot of early-mid 20-year-olds right now (especially on /fa) I had my mom dressing me for a long time. And even when she wasn't dressing me, she was my point of reference for if something fits or works together. Her point of reference is my dad and every boomer dad in the Midwest, and boomer dads in the Midwest almost always dress terribly.

>Shirts are too big - usually tent-tier, so I thought all shirts should be practically flowing off my body and bought at Target, despite the fact that clothes this big made me uncomfortable and I couldn't figure out why
>The only shoes you needed were tennis shoes and sandals. That was it
>Jeans? Long as fuck, piling up at your ankles because there's so much extra fabric
>Collared shirts were a polo that was twice your size
>"You're a large" (I'm a small-medium, and that depends on how the shirt is cut!)
>I was wearing shoes that were 2-3 sizes too big because I didn't know how shoes were supposed to fit for the longest time, and I hated shoe shopping, so I'd always go with my mom

Don't get me wrong, I love my mom and dad to death and I don't hold it against them, but holy fuck they fucked up my ability to make judgements on my outfits or things that I'd like to try. People in the Midwest dress like absolute shit. No penchant for style, no discernible look, just whatever is comfy (and this isn't inherently bad). I went to college and saw people wearing fitting clothes and it blew my fucking mind.

Did this happen to anyone else?
