Sorry to ruin the illusion but the Cambridge university library is a grim brick prison built on a former military hospital where hope goes to die. Most of the interior is scuffed up drab institutional 70s style apart from the entrance and reading room.

The bit in the photo looks exactly the same today though - first floor corridor facing the tea room. Same bookcases etc, only difference is a few portraits on the left hand wall.

There are plenty of atmospheric libraries with nice architecture in Cambridge, like the Trinity or Caius college libraries, but the UL isn't one of them.
