I think the reason it gets hated on so much is that it isn't a defined aesthetic yet. There aren't designers producing specific pieces, pop culture hasn't spotlighted it yet, and as far as media goes, it's pretty much restricted to /fa/, a couple tumblrs, and maybe a smaller forum or two. Besides Poet, Knoch, and maybe a few others, there aren't many people who have really nailed down the look yet and given certain elements credible aesthetic value with which to build off of.

It's not like other styles, such as gothninja, where you can go buy out Rick's full line and post shit like "rick hat, 2x rick asymmetrical tees, rick jawns, rick geos" and get compliments like SICK FIT BRUH 10/10 KILLIN IT. You have to put thought into it. It isn't defined. Right now it's an abstract idea, with elements from an array of different styles compromising experimental fits that all emit a certain feel.

See above. Aesthetically it isn't flimsy at all; most fits draw heavily from military/tactical sources, which have been in style for ages, with a dash of weathered techwear and occasional drapey/distressed cloth (which is high fashion right now). It is, however, fairly flimsy in its definition. Because of all the ideas coming together at once, there really isn't a one yet. At this point it's just a bunch of ideas getting thrown around, with a focus on using bleakly futuristic fits as inspiration.
