Can a tear in clothing cause it to just unravel/fall apart? My work pants have a tear right next to a seam but I'd rather not replace them if I don't have to, as they're sort of expensive.

How much does leather generally stretch? How long does it take before it's noticeably looser/softer?

I bought some boots and they're pretty tight. Not uncomfortable to wear, but uncomfortable to be walking around in. I'm not sure if I should go a size up or wait.
