It sounds like I'm in the same boat as a lot of you guys.

I've been slicking my hair back with gel for the past few months, I thought it looked ok, but girls really don't like it at all and that really makes me want to just get a crew cut and forget about growing my hair out at all. So, for the past week, I've been planning on cutting it when I get home for fall break next week.

But today, I've been having second thoughts

My goal has been for a while the bottom right pic. It'll probably take me another 8 months or so to reach that, you guys have any tips as to what I can do with it until then? I thought about combing it over to the side recently, any other suggestions as to what I can do with it other than slicking it back? Or am I better off just getting a crew cut and leaving it at that?

It needs gel pretty much all the time, my hair's pretty thin and falls down if nothing is helping it stay in place
