what do you guys do about pilling?

I have a problem. I recently bought a james perse sweater (100% supima cotton) and it has already started to pill in the lower back. I have only worn the shirt like 3-4 times and I haven't even washed it yet. The rest of the shirt is still in good condition, but it has started to pill a little in the lower back, which I imagine is because of the wearing my backpack with it around town.

In any case, I'm really pissed about it. Not even walmart clothes should deteriorate this quickly. I am thinking about taking pictures and sending in a formal complaint to James Perse. When i was like 15 I once mailed a letter to diesel about a pair of shoes that hurt my foot. It took a few weeks for them to respond, but they eventually ended up sending me a personal letter back that told me I could take it to any diesel store to redeem for a new pair of shoes (any kind).

Have any of you guys ever complained to a designer about their clothes? What was their response? I felt like i got a pretty good deal from diesel, and i didnt even have to provide any proof of purchase or return the old shoes or nothing. thinking im gonna do this with james perse too, since i figure who knows maybe they'll give me free clothes
