Two-tone, champagne dial is the classic. Look for a ref. 16233. It's still neo-classic era (made from '88 to '05) but it's got the modern 3135 movement and sapphire crystal. You should be able to find plenty good examples in the 5-6k range.

Another thing to look for is bracelet stretch. Some of those older bracelets will be very worn and floppy. (picrel) It can be restored, but not cheaply.

For me, personally, my favorite DJ is the Turn-o-graph/Thunderbird. I think the rotating bezel is a nifty feature and is surprisingly useful, along with being a little more unique.
