People were asking about historical Rolex MSRP in the last thread, so I actually looked it up.
When introduced in 1957, the GMT 1675 cost $240, or $2000 today. In 1978 it was up $795 or $2900 adjusted, in 1986 price went to $1400 - $3100 today.
It’s remarkably hard to find this data, especially since they quit putting the price in ads as they tried to position more as a luxury brand rather than a high end tool for professionals.

Point is, their stuff shouldn’t be much more than 3-5k for steel models, and even the high end of that might be a bit of a reach.
Even with the maximally autistic Swiss quality control, they’re stacking profits up like crazy at these prices, and your “trusted AD” who fucks your wife, makes you buy 10k of gold, and then sells you a submariner for 50% over MSRP is really stacking profits.
When the market slows up and gets realistic, a lot of dudes are gonna be hurting. I’m going to buy a Chinese shitter or a microbrand lol
Honestly, I don’t like the new bezel font on the gmt-II anyway, the vintage round numbers are sexier.
