probably the most illuminating post ive seen here in a while. was expecting this thread to be cringe.

to put it in other words, real old money WASPs were actually quite frugal and also outdoorsy. their style was just an american take on the traditional british bourgeois country styles which still exist today. earthy colors, and worn-in clothing that they take care of. white shirts, brown/khaki pants, and beige sweaters

then you see all these people trying to ape the rugged sophistication of the old WASP chads by wearing brightly colored chinos and pink polo shirts. the modern dudebro outfit you'll find in large frats. it just screams urban yuppie who loves to spend daddy's money. if you don't want to look like that, it's important to bear in mind the rural and (at most) suburban roots of these styles and don't let yourself turn into an urban fop s o y boy
