I think you guys are scared of muscle, because you think you'll look like the second pic.
If you're in deficit and do things like running, or swimming, or cardio-based workouts-you won't bulk up. Even if you did bulk up, you would just need to stop working out and keep eating in deficit.

With working out and weight loss think of those California model-types. Women may be genetically predispositioned to have minimal muscle gain, but they also eat like birds and do pilates. Toning will always make you look thinner, and if you hate it-just let your body eat the muscle away. If you're already thin it doesn't matter as much, but I've seen "always skinny" people who "can't put on weight" look so soft while the same people who work out look 10x better.

It's effort, you get out of it what you're putting in.
