>Put a regular nail in them and they will spit in two. They're literally the fragile snowflakes of the constructions materials. Expensive, soft and sensitive.

you could say the same thing about rock since it takes just a few metal pegs to split a 5t rock...
If you werent an overbuilt mcconstruction autists you would know that strong is not the oposite of soft in construction (!!!), but when you actually see the whole picture its far more complex and often the "softer" build is more lasting because it is "soft".

Terracota tiles and smth like slate roof tiles/panels are extremly fragile as well but are absolute God tier in terms of roofing materials, while very "un-fragile" roofing option like aslphalt shingles is utter dogshit.
You probably think that wood is "soft" ergo shortlasting, yet wooden log cabins will outlast any metal framed house, how is that? isnt metal "strong"?

Aerated terra bricks rarely have mold problems because they are very water resistant due to their brittleness (=fragility) and the insulation properties of terra brick and upon that aerated profile + zero toxicity of material + big size means more speed and less need of high skill masons = fantastic option for walls.

>>1538673
>Then again if there is a product that works and breaths I think it's okay to use.

Im OK with that, sometimes you cant afford a stong built from the start and need to tinker it later, Ive search the name Leijon and didnt find much (they are probably only in Finland), can you post more informations and crossections? Im very interested in low toxic methods of insulation.

>>1538673
>Central European timber framing was never a thing in Finland.

Half-timber is more of a North continental Europe and Brit way of doing it, areas like South Germany barely have any, here in Croatia we also barely have half timber with mud insulation builds.

from what I know about Half timber builds, they need less craftsmanship than pure log cabins. I really dig how they look.

yes, "isolate" is closer to my language so Im prone to using that, but keep in mind that semantically both are correct (you separete heat from non heat). Ill try using insuation from now on.

Isnt a well built log cabin enough protection for the wind if its well made and doesnt have gaps? Also what material is Hunton and Leijona? This is the first time I hear about non plastic sheating

>Energy efficiency

so much problems in the world wouldnt exists if people simply continued to wear sweaters inside the house. Its literally that simple.

>Also, timber framing takes a lot less skill than log carving.

yes, but why didnt they went by legit timber frame like pic rel (not mcmansion style timber frame), you can isolate such a house with mud and stick or if that is too peasant like, you can use bricks between - which tells us how underdeveloped old styles our today and how much superior we can make them with modern tools etc., we dont have to just invent inferior new technology like plastic wraps and plastic insulation

mold is seriously dangerous stuff, even drinking water from bottles that has a bit of mold on it can lead to brain infections, I glad to hear you wised up and gone full timber.

Tell me, how did wrap home became a thing in Finland, how did they advertised it? was it cheaper?

>Do you understand that your specific build preference is not suitable for all soil types and all climates?

that is the line contractors tell you when they dont want to mess with doing proper foundations but get the money and run - "oh your house is falling apart after 10 years? sorry to hear that, but nothing lasts forever what did you expect?"...meanwhile Venetians built houses out of stone ON MUD by using proper foundations.
