First things first. If your home doesn't have it, Arc Fault breakers. If a circuit shorts, it'll kill it before it can get any heat built up. That is the number one thing to do if you are doing anything to your electrical system.

I just rewired my house, going from aluminum to copper. Last year I put in a new panel for 200A service and put those in before I went for the complete rewire. I decided the easiest way to do the network was to run one CAT 6 to the attic and split them off in two spots.

It almost looks like is screwed in in two placed. If it is, remove the remainder of the leg glue and clamp it together. Then set it up in a vise and drill it for a dowel and glue the dowel in the leg. This way you can easily dowel the leg.

It doesn't form a rust resistant coating, what it does is it neutralizes and removes the existing rust. You need to oil the tool or use a degreaser and re paint it if you don't want it to re rust.

This, and start with a center drill too if you can find one. Makes life much easier as they don't have any flex. If you can get a drill press as well, you'll find yourself pretty damn golden.

Here you go friend, this add-on for XBMC turns all of your scrapped TV shows and Movies into pseudo channels that will run like real TV save for those damned commercials. I believe you could easily make custom or music channels. Now XBMC offers live TV and the PseudoTV add-on allows you to incorporate streams via their IPs.

I put a lot of thought into "power armor" as a future war concept in my free time, and I'm more impressed with the designs I saw on Code Geass than with the Iron Man suit. Though these designs I picked up are more Mecha, I think a more miniaturized version could be achievable for a mobile infantry unit. Make the leg units more solid, the whole build wider for stability(see the lower profile evolution of tanks). Use this foundation to build some powerful actuators on top of, attach a heavy machine gun to one arm and a kind of hydraulic Swiss army knife to the other(half size jaws of life, power drill, etc).

As for power, I can see them having on limited battery supply, recharging wirelessly by orbiting a series of power-trucks that direct microwaves at fold out antenna panels. Think of them as tactically useful as raiders, quick in and out like assault squads: well trained and heavily armed. Or also for logistical, mechanics, or future sapper templates. The balance between protection and mobility is always an issue with making your soldiers armored. I think limited flak and rifle fire protection is good; integrate some sort of crude missile interception system if possible. Imagining their max speed to be around 40mph on even terrain, but this stuff is really just imaginative theory, haven't had much of any time to break down the math or anything. If you guys were interested I might be able to do some rough sketches of this concept.

Alright OP, we on DIY detest the "What can I do with ___ " threads, we HATE them.

But what I would do, is format it, and install a Linux partition on it. If you have any idea what your doing you could leave 7-8 gbs as fat32, which is fine for everyday data-transport. It's pretty nice having a 24gb Linux drive you can carry around and boot from any computer. I use mine a lot to fix problems with people's Macs/PCs, get know I have all the software/browser setup I'm familiar with at all times and letting my friend's try out Linux.

Well OP, there is a lot of getting started with chickens and chicken coop building plans, as well as many DIY projects that go into great detail on this site:

Also, try backyard chickens and make sure to read up before ever buying an animal.

Yeah, you only really need heating if it's under freezing out with most chicken breeds. But I've heard from some chaps at the feed store that their hybrids tend to be a bit more sensitive.

I'd start with the Backtrack Linux distribution and partition it onto a thumb drive to carry around everywhere. I managed to pick up some very basic stuff (cracking, wireless sniffing, etc) from there site and this metalX1000 guy on YouTube. But if you want to do anything more the curve looks pretty steep so I recommend picking up Bash script and intermediate networking books now. I'm no expert or anything, just been looking into this stuff lately.

(Anyone else remember when Angelina Jolie looked like that? I feel old..)

Alright OP, I've been turning laptops into towers for a while now since I get (mostly partially broken) laptops cheap from friends looking to upgrade and love to tinker. As I was reading your post I was also watching Brad Pit kick ass in Troy on my dedicated media center laptop-tower.

For starters you should format the whole thing with a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 version. The freed up space can give you a noticeable increase in speed and re-installing drivers ensures you get the latest (usually faster) drivers. As for physical upgrades you can't do much about the GPU save for keeping it cooler and thus faster. I can squeeze around twenty more frames out of my Emulation games with a fan pointed at it. So I suggest you get something to set it on, so that you can point a small fan at the bottom and if you want you can remove some of the bottom panels.

Many don't know this, but Windows Vista/7/8 all have something called ReadyBoost installed, it's a program that can convert USB sticks and SD cards into virtual RAM for your computer. So think about grabing a nice 4-16gb one of those and stick it in; it will prompt you about it. Make sure your stick or card has a decent write speed and your stick is in a USB 3.0 port. I find it helps quite a bit, especially when starting my PC and when running RAM intensive programs like Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Excel. Switching to an SolidStateDrive is always an easy and effective upgrade, relieving the bottle neck of the spinning disk hard drives. Lastly I've hear that you can purchase these computer accessories that fit graphics card pins and converts them to work for USB, basically making them external graphics cards. I've been thinking about investing in one but am still doing research on their effectiveness as a graphics card.

Hope that helps OP.

Not always OP, double check the pin count to be safe.

If you are running windows Vista/7/8, I recently started using ReadyBoost which comes preinstalled on all of them. It converts a USB sticks or SD card into a simple RAM module for your computer, it gave my under powered laptop a very noticeable boost.

I'm actually about 3/4ths tthe way through Henry Thoreau's Walden. It's a great, poetic ready about a man who goes "into business" with the forest. His philosophy is to not let your possessions own you, work for yourself and enjoy nature. Link to .pdf version:
http://www2.hn.psu.edu/faculty/jmanis/thoreau/thoreau-walden6x9.pdf

I've been contemplating this for a long time OP so perhaps I can give some ideas. Chickens, root vegetable garden and a seasonal job. Chickens are a cheap and low maintenance source of food. Root vegetables like potatoes, beets and carrots are rugged and can grow year round. Goats are nice but as Thoreau sees it, large mammals are such a large responsibility that they infringe on your freedom and can be costly to keep. (I'm sure people on this board may disagree)

For housing, this board is very well known for it's tiny house enthusiasts and cabin builders. If you just lurk around on this board you'll learn a lot of interesting things.

1) Personally I think the binocular would be more effective and balanced. To fix the narrowing vision problem you could:
-trial and error test some optical lenses in front of your webcam.
-make some sort of Google glasses projection onto safety glasses like setup.

2) If you have the technological know how I think a camcorder screen would work just fine. You could also look at mini car LCD screens(used for backup cameras), they sell a 20$ one on Amazon that 3.5' and the reviews looked good. I had never looked at Kopin mini displays before you brought it up, but they look mighty fine, if not expensive.
