My boomer old man neighbors are some weekend warriors but they suck at diagnosing anything that can’t be fixed with starter fluid and fresh oil. They don’t understand that it’s 2018 and we have OBD-II plus Google.

They make open ended ones where you can change out the head. Snappy and SK sell them.

And you could do the crowsfoot but you need to do some math first.

I have seen a few cooler repair guys with Ridgid drivers lately.

DeWalt seems to dominate the average repair guy as far as I have seen. My dad did HVAC and ran DeWalt. Only people I ever see with Makita are like cabinet installers and wood working stuff.

Preach it brother. All I do is post solid information about my wide selection of tools and all I get is hate. I don't get why people get so angry about not being knowledgeable. C'est' la vie.

Yeah but doesn’t it also depend on the amount of current the battery can put out? Like if you had two identical car batteries charged to 12.5V, one is new and the other is 5 years old, wouldn’t the drop be higher? Or two 2000mAh 18650s, one is rated at 15A max discharge and the other at 25A, would they be different on a test like that given they start with the same voltage?

Good luck friendo.

Normie buddy who was telling me to get one said it’s his most used tool (if he can find it since his roommate always wants to use it too). Dude does communication installation by day and engine swapping VWs by night and said the 7” has enough force to crush exhaust manifold tubing. He’s not some Redditor ToolGuy either so I trust him on that one.

I still gotta get a pair but I’m waiting for Xmas, a fat paycheck, or some other good excuse to drop $50-$60 on a pair of pliers. I got the Knipex Alligator and haven’t had a chance to abuse them too much but there’s a lot of little things about them that will make you grab Red instead of Channellock or Irwin Blue every time.

Here’s a Chinesium HF AAA that came in one of their free lights. Wish I had some Energizer Lithium AAAs nearby because it would be interesting to see the drop between the two, I’m assuming it would be much lower on the lithium even if they were reading the same with no load.

Because the Crescent will slip while the rotational force you’re already applying to the Knipex will only make it grip harder.

I want to shit on it too but once my normie friends started shilling for them, I realized there’s something to it. Was playing with them the other day at Home Depot and my girl said she’s gonna get it for me for xmas so we’ll see if it’s under the tree or I need to go back and buy it myself.

Yeah especially with automotive and household stuff where I only need to drive a handfull of nuts and bolts, they’re really nice with the small 2.0 battery.

First project I did after I got them got me hooked. I was able to get it between the radiator and engine and zip these long ass bolts on/off. If the 18v tools even fit, it would have been much more awkward.

I only paid $115 for the drill and impact with a 2.0 and 4.0 battery, but I still sort of regret not going Red. I think the M12 drill-impact set with 2x 2.0 batteries was $149. And then like 2 weeks later they had a sale where you could get the M12 drill, impact driver, hackzall, and a free tool or battery (would pick ratchet) for $199 and I was seriously considering being a dindu and returning the Orange and paying the extra $80 for that.

My good friend installs communications stuff and has a bunch of M18 and he keeps wanting the M12 Fuel impact driver. It’s super stubby and has as much power as most 18V tools. He didn’t think the 12V would hold up to his work until I was showing him what the Ridgid can do. That’s a perfect tool for electrical and HVAC guys who are driving small screws throughout the day and are running all around a building with their tool bag.

Hmm I guess it does. So if the battery is dying, even if it still reads around 1.50V with no load, the drop will be much higher, right?

They had 2-packs of the 11-in-1 for $19 a few months back and I grabbed that thing. Well worth it, they’re so handy to have around the house and cars, just like flashlights.

Also the 11-in-1.

Keep one in my work bag and one at home. My garbage disposal stopped working and all I needed to take it completely apart was the 11-in-1.

Home Depot has a deal with that and the smaller electronics version in one pack for $19 right now. I grabbed one for the gf’s dad and I want to get one too.

I might have to agree. These little Crescent pliers are awesome too, so much easier to use than any other small pliers sets I have used. The meter, the pliers and flush cutter, and the picks have rarely left my workbench in the past couple months.

Also I think I want to get some nice long handle flex head ratchets in the future. Maybe I will get the Gearwrench 120XP 3/8” and 1/2”. Anything I do on my car seems to be way easier with the flex head and extra torque of the long handle.

That HF slim light gets a ton of use too.

What do you do? Does the lack of “True RMS” ever screw you up compared to the MM700? I still think about that, whether I should’ve spent the extra $30 for the TRMS and Lo-Z functions. My Southwire is True RMS though so I guess I can use that if I run into a situation where I need it.

Confirmed, battery test is useless. I don’t understand why they would even do that. Must be a marketing thing so housewives will buy the more expensive meter so they can test their AA batteries and have no clue what the readings mean,
