In high school for a "occupational education" thing I had I decided to weld up a wagon with my dad. I made some welds with 6010 rod that looked that nice. Fuckyea stick.

I'm going to build one when my tubes get here.

Making a nixie of VFD tube clock wouldn't be hard if you had a kit and soldering skills with a bit of background in electronics. Its a bit harder to design one yourself, especially if you're going to have it microcontroller controlled.

I would help explain, but I need to go sleep. Check out:

and the pic should help.

G'night everyone

If its just a surface burn you _should_ be able to check the resistance with a multimeter. If not, it just looks like red - yellow - silver - gold, to me.

Pretty awesome to see this many people still interested in old tech like this.

Also, do you guys think I should multiplex my tubes? It would mean less decoder chips, but a little bit trickier.

That particular one is a kit for like $500... crazy, huh? I blame it on the tubes and the nice case though.. Really you could build a similar one with tubes like that for under $100 if you know what you're doing.

http://www.nixieclock.net/pd1148559262.htm?categoryId=0 is where I found it.

I wish I could help more with the audio stuff, I really need to get back into that too.

Also the kit has a built in alarm system.

>>20427
Oh okay, well the only work I've done is dealing with stuff where distortion was desired, and that was a while ago. I'm probably not much of a good resource when it comes to audio stuff, but I can try and point you in the right direction. I found some cool stuff on http://diyaudioprojects.com/Schematics/ before. They helped me come up something on my own. Sorry I was trying to find the link, firefox history is weird.
