Usually chainmail would fill the gaps. I'd recommend the welded tiny shit like in the neptunic suits.
Also, a full suit of plate would be ridiculous.
Honestly just a neptunic suit would probably do fine.

I'm kind of working on a sqord made from a camping mat, with 2 driveway marker poles as the core.
I really should get back to working on it.

I wish the LARP I occasionally attend was less picky about the weapons.

Chainmail is fun, but you have to be the right kind of person to enjoy it, it's really repetitive.
But the results are fucking awesome.
Pic related, my doubling, before it was 'finished'.
It technically needs ~10 more rows on the long side, and a hamata to attach to, but I'm trying to make it standalone.

Current project it a ~50% scale hauberk of bronze.

The thinkgeek butted mail is shit for enything buy occasional wear and if you store it wrong the links will catch on each other and pull apart.

Google Neptunic Shark Suits, they're made of tiny welded rings.

Mmkay~
That makes sense.
I didn't notice the split at first.

Posting what inspired me to make a tiny hauberk.

I'm working on making a tiny hauberk from 18g 3/16" Bronze rings, waiting for more to get here so I can finish.
Also finishing up my standalone Roman doubling, which may or may not be turned into a full sized byrnie.

And a bracelet for a friend, 16g 5/16" aluminum and rubber rings, 6 in 1.

>>152460
Is there a reason the skirt part if laid that way?
Why not have the rings going left-right instead of up/down?

Note: the caterham would have a roof and doors so I could drive it in the rain, comfortably.

I want to make some of my own plate armor, build a Caterham, and live in an interesting [relatively small] house.
Alternative to the house, build an awesome garage, and have a glass wall to the living quarters of the house.

This is a video for someone a while ago:

The UI is a bit outdated in it, but it should give you a good Idea of what to do.

Also, there are some guides on the rainmeter website and a helpful community forum too.

Oh!
And of course, chainmail.
Because it's fun and super awesome.
Nearly finished with m doubling, and working on a rubber/ aluminum bra, and figure out what type of rings to use for a watch band.

Stitched a wheelskin steering wheel cover onto my car.
Came out pretty well, could have done a better job though.

Great stuff though, if you're looking to do a leather steering wheel cover and don't want to make the cover yourself, I'd recommend it.

Thanks~
It's something everyone should try sometime.
Get some Needlenose pliers, cut them down a bit so they're blunt, and buy a small quantity of rings.
Try it out, see what you think.
I think it's really fun, though right now I can't get more than a ~4"x4" patch done before my hands hurt a bit.

Scale armor is cool.
Personally I prefer Maille and plate.
I don't have the patience/ tools for plate right now, but I've been doing some maille.
This is what I've got of some Roman doublings.

A good book for making accurate armor// learning about historic armor is "Arms and Armor of the Medieval Knight" by David Edge and John Miles Paddock.

Very educational.

I know this firsthand.
My dad got me the smaller butted hauberk for christmas, which is awesome, but after making my own chainmaile I'm noticing so many issues.
The sleeves' weave is the wrong direction, the rings grab at everything like mad, and I can open and close the rings with my fingers.
Really neat to have a hauberk though, it'll go with my doublings well.
