There have been EMP generators rigged up for testing...Baldy the Wonder SEAL demonstrated one on Future Weapons.

A handheld EMP device would be pretty inefficient though.

Monitoring this thread.

Thinking of sealing and caching an INCH (I'm Never Coming Home) bag and some kit. Not all that different from a time capsule.

OP here. I have a dremel, and shake like Michael J Fox. For very fine jobs like lockpicks, the grinder has suited me well thusfar.

Thanks, I'll heed your warnings.

OP here...wound up getting a Ryobi cheapo...it works well for most things.

As for the rude guy that was in here earlier claiming I need special knowledge to work on gun parts, I fixed up an AK mag that wouldn't fit my Romanian shitstick.

Probably gonna go make some lock picks in a few.

OP, also try checking out Deviant Ollam's books...specifically the 2nd edition of Practical Lock Picking.

It reads like a text book, covering everything from raking, lifting, pick resistant pins, shimming padlocks, and bypassing.

There are a lot of laws like that in VA.

Possession of an auto knife is regarded as prima facie evidence of intent to sell said knife (a class 4 misdemeanor).

Hell, it used to be illegal to bang your girlfriend if you weren't married.

MOAR pics of bunker plz.

Who was the former owner? USAF?

Thanks.

When it comes to gun parts, it is mostly just AK mags. If there is any real work that needs to be done it goes to an FFL.

I don't really intend on using it on knives (got a carbide sharpener for that)...though I probably will use it on axes.

http://toool.us/laws.html

Another invaluble source for lockpick laws, and a good organization to be involved in if you like picking.

There is an in depth explanation of VA lockpick laws there.

Again, don't be a dumbass and it probably won't be an issue.

I normally roll my eyes at people that use the phrase "it's only illegal if you get caught"...but in this case I don't.

The law basically says that if you are CAUGHT POSSESSING LOCKPICKS it becomes PRIMA FACIE evidence of intent to burglarize. So basically they can take you to court if you are caught with them, but you can rebut it.

Let me put it this way. Do you think the popo is gonna raid you for having a crowbar, hammer, screwdriver, etc? Well believe it or not, possession of one of those outside of your home can be considered possession of burglary tools and considered prima facie.

I am NOT a lawyer, but I would think that if you don't carry them on your person in public...you are fine.

Nevada has the same laws, and every year there is a hackercon held there where people pick competitively among other things. They are not hassled either.

OP, there is a useful forum called lockpicking101 with all sorts of templates. Just thought you should know.

Thanks.

I'll hit up some of the estate sales and shit around here.

Chill out dude.

Secondly, I have been around guns my entire life. Grinding a little material off an AK mag so that it can fit into a shitty WASR 10 is not a major task.

I deal with out of spec parts every now and then that require a miniscule amount of metal to be removed.

You are aware that some products are hunks of shit, right?

That's why I asked. Looking for reviews.

I need recommendations for a grinder for shit like forming lock picks, working on gun parts, and working on knives.

Looking specifically for a bench grinder...under 100 dollars.

I am currently trying to get in law enforcement, but might be wait listed due to background issues.

Seriously thinking of doing locksmith/personal security type stuff.

Pistol/Shotgun and a dog.

I'd recommend a German Shepherd.

Should I do a thread on creating tension wrenches next?

I always thought it would be pretty cool to get an old military M35A2 with a communications shell on the back and make a camper/go anywhere ops center.

Actually, credit for the beer can shim goes to a book I read by a physical security/pen tester/locksport expert who goes by the alias "Deviant Ollam".

It's been around before him, but that rounded tooth is his idea.
