the place is a fucking wreck, all kinds of stuff is needed.

there's a list of important stuff that needs to get done on the main page of the wiki. probably the most important thing that needs to happen is that people who regularly browse /diy/ need to a) regularly copy helpful threads to the wiki, and b) retrieve similar threads from the archive after they've been pruned. aside from that mostly it's just formatting shit that's in the pastebin and the articles, but there are some other things too:

1) a logo that doesn't suck
2) a color scheme or something that allows you to quote posts and have them actually look like they do on the board
3) maybe even a new skin for the site because it's pathetically lame

this is the dumbest fucking idea ever. do you really expect to walk into a bank and hand them five hundred notes that have been obviously cut and pieced together on purpose, and have them just be like "OH HERP DEE DOO HERE'S YOUR NEW CASH"?

even if you can find some legal loophole that allows you to do this, expect to spend a long-ass time in court trying to find it and a shit-ton of $$$ on lawyers trying to prove it

haha its fine i don't think you're going to get banned

if you're worried about it you might want to just delete the thread though

it'll still be in the archive and the wiki, so no harm done

Naturally, the composition of the steel is important too. I'm guessing it just came with "STAINLESS" stamped on the blade, as it was $7, but even then it'll help a hell of a lot to spark-test it on various portions before you even try to make a decision on what you want to do.

If you want to get any real advice on this, you're going to have to do a lot better than that shitty low-res picture you posted in the OP. Get a photo of it laying flat next to a ruler, and then we'll be able to see what you're talking about.

it really depends on what process your certification is in. if it's something banal like MIG you're not going to be seen as having much skill - MIG welders are a dime a dozen. now if you've mastered something like heliarc, you can show someone your certification and they'll know that you're damn good at what you're doing.

bias ply tires are durable as fuck and have a pretty nice texture to them, if you can still find any around.

All that lives is born to die. I'm not worried about the inevitable decline too much. I think that if we can keep a central database going, we can avoid a lot of identical HAY GUYS HOW DO I ______ every hour of every day - the mods here are pretty good at not being faggots, too.

That's never been any problem for me. You just have to keep the graphite intact. When you drop a pencil or knock it hard, the graphite tends to snap - especially if the pencil's a piece of shit. But if you take care of it, and don't mash the point into the paper like an angry toddler, exposing the lead like that is actually a lot easier because it allows you to write longer without the wood running into the paper.

People are so used to 'calling someone' to fix things that they've completely discarded not only the idea of fixing it themselves, but the idea that it's possible for anything to be fixed by the end user. Which, sadly, is slowly becoming true for a lot of things :(

i don't know whether you live in Prickville or Asshole City, but in southeastern Michigan I have never been hassled by anyone while liberating their garbage, nor have I ever encountered the 5-0 while diving, regardless of how the land was zoned. The cases involving invasion of privacy, as I recall, were filed against a police department for using the contents of a woman's trash as evidence in a case despite not having procured a warrant to do so. This is an entirely different matter from "I think I'll see if there's any neat gizmos here". It's illegal in the same manner as jaywalking. Nobody will ever care unless you're being a gigantic asshole about it
