Leather dye. Sold right next to the polish. I use it on the boots that get super worn down, then polish them a few times. Doesn't look perfect, but alright, and stretches the boot life by at least another year.

Considering most of the leathers used in cheaper shoes is coated with polyurethane/urethane, you did fine.

For a dye to work, you have to have uncoated leather. Cheaper "leather" shoes use coated leather. There is specialized leather paint for this, one brand name is "Angelus".
