Paper models can be fun and they are free. Just print them out, cut, and glue. Some of them were highly detailed too.

Classes of DIY-able things which don't require money:

Just about any small software project (automate my _ )

Stuff made from trash (really "scrap"). Welding/machining/forging scrap into "art" or some other shit is peak, many people make a living doing only this. Stick welders are cheap and easy to learn.

You can get into electronics fairly cheaply making 1-2layer PCBs on your home printer. Stuff like clone guitar pedals, amplifers, interface boxes and the like, you will pay more for a pretty box to put it in than for the actual electronics inside.

Anyone can make shit with wood. Start with whittling if all you have are yard branches and deadfall. Hand tools for the beginner can be cheap as fuck, especially used.

Glassblowing is also low-cost but there is a lot of technique to learn, you will not get from watching youtube.

When in doubt, go take a free class at your local makerspace, hackerspace, library, or art co-op.

This is actually how I got into DIY.
/po/ was my home before /diy/
Then I found pic related on /po/, which through a series of tangents led me to crossbow making, and from there general woodworking.
Once you leave the realm of paper, harbor freight (yeah, I know...) for tools and craigslist free section for materials is a pretty good start.

I'm laughing like a maniac

this just seems so fucking random. like if someone asked you "what did you do all day?" and you'd tell him "nothing much just made an engine out of a can"

This is amazing. What can you do with it though?

The essence of DIY is to find something you would normally pay someone else to do, and do it yourself.

Maybe your car needs an oil change, maybe the tile grout in your bathroom need to be redone... Maybe you enjoy beef jerky and want to make your own.

Identify things you want done, research how their done and if it seems like like something you can do yourself, give it a go.

Be confident in your abilities, but don't be afraid to ask for help if you realise you're in over your head.

Don't go out and by hundreds of dollars worth of tools in preparation for being a 'DIY' guy. Decide what your first project is going to be and buy only the tools your need for that job.

Its only for lolz but it my be more fun than shitposting all day.

There were real ones that served a purpose but they would require more tools than OP has I would suspect.

Start by getting free cool shit and take it apart. Get screwdrivers at yard sales or free on craigslist. Learn how things work, get free parts.
