Agreed. I sometimes come in on Sundays. The operators have their feet up on the desks with headplugs in and are asleep for most of the day. The problem is twofold - a) complete Montreal control to the point where all nearly 90% of managers are Quebecois and b) most supervisors are complacent.

Bombardier need to recognise that a discount should be built into the price. Literally every airframer and tier one supplier recognise this. But oh no, not Bombardier.

also, you asked how competative the apprenticeships where. in the union, especially in bigger cities like chicago, minneapolis, new york etc, its pretty competative. im not sure how other locals do it, but in minneapolis, you aplly for an apprenticeship and go for an interview. they only hold interviews once every year. so they interviews something like 70 guys in a week, at least that was how many apllied for the hvac side of the pipefitters when i applied. after that, theyll look at your qualifications and how your interview went and they'll rank you. i was raned 20th out of 70. then, between the time you get your ranking to september, when the advance trade night school start, companies will call in and ask for employees and you will be picked off the list. so if you were ranked #1, the first company to call the union for an employee you get you. the companies dont really have a say in who they can get and niether do the employees. (there are ways around that though which is actually how i was hired, but that is a whole other story.

TL;DR i can be very competative depending on where you live and whether you go union.

But I am just an intern (just got out of school) so I get just minimum wage for such job + some benefits. And at the end of this season I'm getting a certificate for restoration with a specialty of ancient mosaics.

Currently at school for CM, but here was what some of my internship was like last summer.

The mexican guy in the back got shit canned and got moved to a different project in the company. One day he's sleeping in a classroom, only having to be busy during crunch time, the next day he's out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere on concrete crew for 10 hours a day.

Great thing was I learned so much about the work on site, I barely even touched tools before then and now I want my own garage so I can start welding and woodworking.

I looked at it. in australia it's saturated by american vets. they con kids into the airforce, "you'll be a pilot anon, your grades are great!" those 60 man hours of maintenance for every hour of flight time need to be kept up. the american air force basically trains everyone in the anglosphere to repair planes. and those vets entering civil have 7+ years of work experience in shitty conditions.

I'm scared. I've got a social phobia. Plus, I'm whiter than bread and EVERY SINGLE TIME I earn my way to a management position at a job, I suddenly fucking become SURROUNDED with drug dealers and undercover cops and people that want my job so they try to set me up for failure...

I'M FUCKING SICK of people spying on me, reading what I say and do online, videotaping me at work because the police sent a gang member to test my reactions to him doing illegal shit, etc etc.

It's not my past holding me back. IT'S MY FUTURE. I've been down that road before, I know what happens, and I have no desire to live like that.

All my life I lived under adults thumbs. Parents, teachers, neighbors, etc AND LO AND BEHOLD people still want to stick their head up your ass when you're a grown man.

I'm tired of working fast food, I know retail is no better, and I just don't know what to do.

I do not feel like it's financially wise for a felon to get in debt going to college because there are people that broke their back working and going to college at the same time then they found themselves STILL flipping burgers because they can't find a job and can't afford to move but this time they have an insane amount of debt...

Fuck that shit!

Fuck it!

Yea I'd love to have my own business but I'm chronically depressed and severely unmotivated by my apathy and I know I'd just do a disservice to the customer and the market.

It's not entrapment, it's a "controlled buy". I literally gave away two joints and they busted me for it. It was a small town so if you smoked weed I guess they thought you were Scarface or something. But yea, the police have broken the law and endangered lives trying to justify their taxpayer funded jobs by making a mountain out of a molehill and stringing me up along with a bunch of young dumb teenagers. I fell in with the wrong crowd I guess, my first job was a place where the upper management took the office door off its hinges to keep the manager from shooting up meth. That was my first job and I was 16 so I never really had a chance I guess. Murphy's Law trumps federal law. I guess I shouldn't complain because lots of people get dealt a much worse hand than me, but I'll complain anyways.. I want my dime bag and bong back lol and I don't even smoke weed anymore. And yea I'm kinda paranoid and scared. Partly confusion, partly stupidity, partly cowardice.

>>979197

He called me a nigger and I'm white as fuck.

It wasn't prison, it was jail.

And I don't mind helping society, but there's a big ass difference between helping society and working at an obsolete job that only exists to keep people busy and actually helping humanity progress. I'm kinda stupid as fuck but yea, I'm vain enough to think I can help humanity. My life is a paradox I create to justify my laziness.

And I've been in management. I know how unlikely I am to get a job, I've seen the countless applications that get shelved because the law or upper management forces the business to keep up a lying "now hiring" sign. There are lots of people I know I've been unemployed for years and the fact that none of them have networked with me when they hear about an opening somewhere tells me something.

When's the last time you ever did that? Sounds like you have plenty of time on your hands.

> but there's a big ass difference between helping society and working at an obsolete job that only exists to keep people busy and actually helping humanity progress.

> yeah, it's called "not being a leach and a liability to the rest of us. That would be a tremendous humanitarian gift to those of us who work.

> I'm kinda stupid as fuck but yea

No comment. I'm too tired when I get home from working all day to blow smoke up my own ass about how important I am that people would take time out of their busy day to arrange elaborate plots to 'keep me down'.

> none of them have networked with me

Sucks when you go around with your hand out and no one puts anything in it. Back to the first point... when is the last time you 'networked' to find someone else a job? Cut your elderly neighbor's grass? Fix some single milf's computer for free? Did anything at all to make networking a 2-way street? That's how I got started. I fixed my friend's dad's computer years ago, he referred me to his brother (a pastor at a medium-sized church). Somehow he worked that into his sermon, something about 'random strangers doing you a good turn'. I about a 150 small jobs out of that over the next year. That was 15 years ago and I'm still getting xmas cards.

Protip: More times than not i've gotten fucked when I stuck my neck out by finding work for friends with no established work history. You should accept a certain amount of prejudice if for no other than courtesy to your fellow networkers.

If you take networking to mean talking about the sorry state you've wound up in through no fault of your own ("your Honour ") then you're destined to die poor and alone.

Time to start some serious soul searching mate, and learn how to interact with other people. Start with How To Win Friends And Influence People, like the rest of us (and for Christ's sake stop whining about yourself, it gave me a nosebleed)

Monitoring patients. Lots of hospitals nowadays have their own training for it and will sometimes hire people with no experience to do a +/- 6 month training course. After a certain number of classroom hours, for instance in a community college or online, or after a year of work experience, you can take the national telemetry exam and bump your pay up quite a bit and work pretty much wherever you want.
