>buy this cheapo fog machine

thing looks pretty decent inside.

The controller has a button to push and a light that turns green when its ready. The indicator turns green but pushing the button, nothing happens. no motor no noise no flicker of light no anything.

I want to try to fix it. There appears to be (yellow) wires running into the tank. Are they attached to a probe that detects the tank level and wont work if it doesnt detect water? Seems unnecessary for a $20 fog machine. The thing was full and the probe was submerged, so if its faulty it wont let the pump run, cuz this probe runs between the mini pump and the controller, i think.

back end. the controller plugs into that 3prong port

theres the probe.

im thinking if i just cut the yellow wire in front of the probe and connect them, that will take the probe out of the equation and just let the thing run, right?

these two yellows here. if i just marry the wires will i start a fire and burn my friends house down?

plug it into a 100 foot extension cord, cover it with something to keep from killing you, then go 100 feet away, behind something, then plug it in.

>>890729
lol well yes there is that option but I was hoping someone might be able to tell me one way or another.

in all seriousness i really cant see why it wouldnt work though. that probe just prevents the signal. i think the probe is just there to prevent the machine from running dry and ruining the motor, but the fuckin stupid thing is is that you cant activate it without holding the button down, so its not like anyone would just hold the button after the smoke stopped and the machine started making weird noises. its pointless

>> No.890735

seriously, post worse pictures.
if you want some help post a picture where we can clearly trace the wires or trace them yourself and post schematic.
unless you have a multimeter this all seems a bit pointless, what are you going to do swop every component until it works?
do you have an identical machine for spare parts?

sounds pretty stupid that the light would turn green if there was no liquid. clearly it has to heat up and shit but why would it turn green if it was empty?

>> No.890739

>>890735
i took it from multiple angles, thats as good as it gets.

the green light turns on when its hot enough. i have another machine that doesnt have a sensor at all, just a reservoir. the light has nothing to do with detecting liquid. i think the sensor prevents the pump that draws the fluid from the tank.

from one of the 3 prongs that the controller connects to (3.jpg) there is a yellow wire that goes to the probe (1.jpg) and then the yellow wire out of probe into the white cap at lower right of pic, marries with a black wire, and black wire goes into the pump. so signal goes from controller to probe probe to pump.

take pump out of equation, success or explosion?

take probe*, take the probe out... obviously not the pump

well you could take the sensor out and test it with a multimeter

OK update

>clipped sensor off
>removed tank
>removed faggot sensor
>married yellows going in/out of probe
>sealed probe hole in tank with putty epoxy
>reattached tank
>fired up, works great

furk yeah, i am of jennyus

In case anyone was curious why I needed the fogger.

Having to fix it's guts made this project was more than it needed to be. But will be worth it when people go to grab a drink.

sorry for small gif but thats the same fogger in the pics. little bastard.

dry ice will give you the same effect as that, and you dont need some faggot machine to do it

>> No.891057

>>890752

you could have left the sensor in the tank and just attached the wires together instead of going thru all that extra bullshit. its not like ti would matter and you wouldnt have had to epoxy the hole

It will also kill you. Have fun dying because of Carbon dioxide poisoning.

>> No.891090

>>891064
well carbon dioxide is heavy so it should stay in the cauldron or hug the floor. i guess you could have calculated the volume of the cauldron and then safe amount to use or added some extra for floor area.

nevertheless that is a cool project op well done i'm glad you got it working. but i still think the low fluid sensor should disable the green button.

VERY unlikely.
More at risk of someone touching the dry ice bare handed and suing the fuck out of him.

>> No.891105

Not any type of expert here. However I do know that Fog machines work pretty much like E-Cigarettes. So the first place I would check is the Area that the liquid touches. It should work like a coil or something that heats up the liquid to produce vapor.

obviously. it leaked anyway, had to go.

but i cant control that, why do I need to even point that out. plus we're in a basement, for like 5 hours.
