Alright so I was wondering about how much it cost to do this myself and what would I need?

>> No.832104

You would have to knock the dents out sand down the paint and respray it. I know this is /diy/ but I would take it to an autobody unless you have somewhere to spray it and are confident you can do it

You are not fixing that yourself.

how much do you want to spend? how much do you care?

you can sand and paint over it cheap. like 20$ worth of decent paint and primer to cover all that up. nobody would notice it from a distance. if its something you can claim on insurance then do that.

Nothing if you have the car already, and its full of gas
You just have to find a bollard somewhere and sideswipe it.

the only hard part would be the door frame. getting inside to knock it out would be hard.

the fender is easy. you just remove the mud guard in the wheel well and push it back out. you could do it with your hand. its not even a crease.

this is the kind of thing you can't do by yourself.

a professional panel beater will charge at least that just for you to drive it onto the lot. its not structural. so just try to knock it out as best you can, get a matching rattle can and a can of automotive metal primer. sand back to metal around any scuffs or chips. then wipe down with a dry cloth. then spray two coats of primer, letting dry then lightly sanding between coats until its all even. once level with the surrounding paint, paint over it.

at least there wont be rust and it wont look like a beater.

To me that looks like a lot of paint that come off the thing you hit.

Get a Mr Clean Magic Eraser and remove all that yellow paint, then just use a wax to buff the remaining scratches underneath.

You can probably get that dent out of the bed if you tried too.
Then just ignore the remaining damage, itll be hard to see when the yellow paint is gone.

wax is not a barrier against moisture.
one does not simply wax to prevent rust.
i'm not suggesting he sands back all over the whole dent. but wherever he can see bare metal, best to sand it back to make a kind of bowl and prime and paint

Ah youre right I didnt even think of that.

I did the magic eraser trick and it worked great, I just didnt have any creases or damage that would have ended up rusting.

yeah i would not give a fuck about scuffs. I just bought a new car a few months ago after my ex took "our car". anyway, new car and it was cheap because it had lots of scuffs, a blown fuel pump and a melted head. so I've been going through fixing everything.

lots of paint chips all over. sand 120, 240, 320. prime, sand, prime, sand, paint, sand, paint on every damn little nick and rust spot. there were many rock chips on the roof and a giant patch on the bonnet.

>mfw my car barely gets a 2 star safety rating
>it's because it only has airbags, not penis bags and ear protection bags and armpit bags and electronic automatic breaking technology or whatever fancy shit brand new beamers must have.

If you really don't want to bring it to an autobody shop, just do this. It's a fucking lot of work for anything bigger than a golf ball sized dent, but it gets the job done.
