I want to make a floor lamp out of an old camera tripod that I no longer use.

So I'm basically looking for a lamp + lampshade (preferably changeable) with the universal tripod mount, pic related, or make my own one.

Any ideas?

uhhh just buy a lamp making kit, they are like $6. depending on the type you could do it different ways,

1) basket lamp kit, just clamp it on.
2) regular lamp kit with side wire exit: put thin bolt through lamp rod into tripodmount, attach lamp socket base to lamp rod.
3) through the base lamp kit: just drill out a cheap mount and put the lamp rod through the resulting hole.

this is almost too easy for diy

Tripod socket is 1/4"x20, probably the most common thread pitch in the United States. Go t hardware store and buy bolt, then do what >551713 said.
