Hey /diy/, I recently found an old tackle box in my garage and I want to use it to store all my IC's/components for easy travel to and from classes. The thing is that the plastic seems to be powdering, like if I rub it with a damp cloth it stains the cloth with a blue powder. Can I spray paint over this with say a matte black (kyrlon camo paint) and keep it from powdering? Or will that just not accomplish anything?

Any other advice?

1. It's falling apart, toss it.
2. Not appropriate storage for IC's, they need to be stored in antistatic containers.

1) spray it down with water.
2) mix 1 cup vinegar and 1 tbs dish soap.
3) scrub the shit out of it
4) spray it with some black vinyl dye ($7 at auto parts store)
5) hit with some 303 aerospace or whatever protectant you have around.

i actually saw some black vinyl dye (marketed as bondo brand auto trim restorer) for liek $2 at big lots. you could use that buy spray dye is easier. works great.
