Hey, /diy/

So, I wanted to build an underground lair, at least 50 square meters, two-and-a-half meters tall. Any suggestion on how I should do it? My building experience is next do none.

So a cellar?

Buy spade. Dig.

Look into lateral earth pressure - shit's a bitch if you forget to take it into account.

I've looked into underground cisterns for tge purpose of establishing an underground "lair", but they're a bit on the expensive side.

Pic related, it's a rough sketch of an underground cistern.

How expensive? My budget is around five thousand dollars.

You can afford to build a nice insulated shed above ground on that budget.
You're not going to be building anything underground.
Working on subterranean construction costs ten times as much as working above ground because you have to keep what you build strong enough to keep from from being crushed and you have to pump out the water that's constantly trying to flood it.

$3,200 without options. You'll also have to pay for a digging service unless you have a dozen like-minded friends with shovels and wheel-barrows.

I'd also reinforce it somehow since it was designed to contain water, not life.

if OP is like any of the other people who want underground lairs, he's going to be putting the work in himself, as he won't want anyone to know he has a lair. Get that pickaxe in swinging shape, OP. Be aware that swinging a pickaxe at 4 hit/sec won't net you a cubic foot chunk of dirt in your inventory to be used somewhere else.

The naivety of my idea is pretty apparent now. Yet there isn't a solution above ground that would satisfy me: I need it to be both accessible and inconspicuous, it can't be a shed lost somewhere in the woods 4 hours from where I live - it needs to be close enough. Underground is the way to go, though I lack both in budget and experience.

supporting shit underground is impossible and dangerous. You dig out the dirt and build you building underground nor drop your prefab survival shelter in there or whatever then fill it in and pack it down.

>Oh look, it's THIS thread again

Listen, kid:
You're not going to build any such thing.
It will cost you TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, and that's ignoring the FACT that no County, Municipality, or your PARENTS will allow you to do so anyway.

Go do your homework, or go play with your Xbox, or whatever, and get used to the idea that you're powerless, your parents and teachers CAN tell you what to do, and you CAN'T escape it.

Oh, and delete this thread immediately to save yourself further embarassment.

There are way too many torches in that OP. I could more output with a quarter of those torches.

I think what you need is a couple of shipping containers, 1/3 ton of imitation crab meat, and an arduino based suicide device if you're ever trapped in your lair.

If you're going to get any help here, you're going to need to outline specifics. The purpose matters because it guides construction techniques or design. Location matters because it guides what services you're going to use. Seriously, give specifics.

It was an elaborate ruse. Someone else ran with it and pretended to be crabOP after his first post
