Is this going to hold?
Its two pieces of two foot gas line for a 2 stroke engine, the tubing is a little too small for the fitting, but it holds it on tight so i think it might be alright.

>> No.519409

Would have held without the cable-ties. Better safe than sorry though I guess?

>> No.519410

Should be fine, the smaller tube will work in your favor. Creating a good seal.

>> No.519414

>>519404

Better too small than too large. It's MUCH more difficult to seal an oversized tube on a barb fitting than an undersized one.

Trust me, I've ruined a PSU and a video card for that exact reason. Fuckin' shitass Zalman barbs.

>> No.519417

thats clear vinyl tubing, not fuel line. I'm not a huge saftey guy, but i wouldnt really trust that nigger rigged contraption when it comes to gas. you could at least put hose clamps on it. But whatever, its you're body thats going to be covered in third degree burns.

You can dip those connections into boiling water to heat the tubing up and make it easier to slip on further really quick. The colder they are the more difficult they are to get on. Just don't get the heat too far up the end or too hot or it will collapse as you try to shove it on. It that happens cool it a little and keep trying.

Thats exactly what i did, but its so small it wont stretch any further, but i may try harder if i need to

Is there already a fuel filter in line, and why do both ends need to be connected?

>> No.519438

>>519430
If that connector is not flopping around, it will be fine and shouldn't leak. But, if it is flopping around or moving around they there is a chance of it coming undone.

>> No.519439

I'll tell you exactly what's going to happen. That double male ended adapters are going to eventually come loose, regardless of whether or not you put a hose clamp onto it. They are NOT far enough onto those adapters to be safe by any means. Short term you will see no issues. Long term they will come off and gas is going to go everywhere.

We use the same types of adapters when we have to splice a regulator or torch hose back together from an accident. They absolutely will fuck up with any sizable pressure placed on them if not properly installed.

You have two choices here:

Get a larger gas line
Get a smaller double male adapter

Once properly slid onto the adapter, secure it using a screw clamp. Some screw clamps have a hexagonal screw heat for sockets, with a recess in the head to accommodate a phillips or flat head screw driver.

Do things right. Never nigger rig.

Word of caution, NEVER lubricate adapters used in any possible explosive environment. Ever.

there is a filter at the gas tank, no inline

Im just trying to get an old 2 stroke motorcycle to run so i can sell it, not like im going to care after that. Ill be building a 4 stroke motorcycle in the next year, and that will be up on here and ill be sure to do it right on that, but right now im trying to do this cheep so i can get some money for my next project

Also, theres not going to be really any pressure on it, just moving gas 3 feet once i cut one end down

Going to go try to push it on further real quick

There, boiled water even hotter than last time, got it on there, still going to use zip ties though, i dont have that small of screw clamps

Happy you at the very least slid them on all the way. Zip ties will work. I'd recommend using a zip tie gun to fasten them rather than hand ratcheting them tight.

The most I've ever seen them used was in ductwork to interconnect flex lines to a ceiling supply grid or to interconnect a nearly 100% non code flex installation to save money. Off topic but they are excellent tools.

Just a tip, when you are using barbs slobber all over that shit. Saliva is a good lube and it dries pretty fast too.

>> No.519610

I have a similar question for you guys. The hose connectors in Auto, they're smooth with a single barb or nipple. Do they have a specific name? I have been meaning to build an oil catch can and don''t want to ruin the PCV hose if I don't have to.

Sage for off topic, but I've done a lot of HVAC work and those things are AMAZING. They get it far tighter than I could ever do by hand, and even cut off the extra bit once they're fully tight. Especially in a confined space like an attic, it's quite a mercy.

if you push the pipe on to the nose of a needle nose pliers and prize the jaws apart while holding it in the hot water it will open even farther.

Twisting a bit of copper wire onto a barbed fitting works even better when using vinyl tubing. Not much else will get into the barb better or easier. Pic mostly related, the wire twisted on like that, with a bit extra to be folded down so it can be undone or just so there aren't scratchy cut ends sticking up or you can just cut it close after two or three twists if you don't care. I used to do that in chem research on water lines for condensors that would flow for days. They never came off, it was cheap as hell, and one quick snip to remove or a few twists.
