I've been wondering, whatever happened to that guy who bought a bunker a while back?

He ever cross that rickety-ass bridge?

(Pic semi related. It's a corridor. Bunkers have corridors.)

Not much new to report so haven't been around, waiting for the six new inner doors and a very large outer one for the service tunnel.

If you look at the blue prints on the pic, they are represented by the Y's. Rods are put in to stabilize the mountain walls/ceiling to give it some extra durability when the nukes start falling. Normally the walls would have had sprayed concrete over as a finish but they never came that far before the expansion was put on hold indefinitely.

Sometimes you get better help by not mentioning it as people get sidetracked. Tho other times it's impossible not to, pic related; an anon helped triangulate my cable ladders/air exhausts which was buried and pretty much impossible to find on the outside. Had to dig 12 feet to unearth them. Really grateful for it, gps, string measuring, audio locator, nothing worked where simple math did the trick (the blueprints hadn't be declassified yet, so working in the dark).

>>520030
Correct. Got radon levels down to 60 bq/m3 by 16 "massive" fans working in the air exhaust system. Pumping roughly ~640 000m3/h air.

Did contact Munters but they didn't really have anything I was interested in, closest thing was their models for ice hockey rinks. Went the fringe way, found an article on a MIT student project with calcium chloride as a dehumidifier desiccant. Turned a 110feet long blast wave trap (large stones picks up any residual blast wave energy that might have leaked in thru the rapid closing anti-blast valves) into a corridor for air dehumidifying.

Pic was my first brainstorming of it, I ended up with moving the heater to the topside. I only need to run it on days where air humidity might be higher than below, which is 10-15 days per year, the sun evaporates it for me for free the rest of the 90-120 days that the system is needed before temperature and humidity outside drops.

Loads of bunkers share the same characteristics and design/layout. So anything that even hints to operational stuff is masked or not released at all. I'm missing maybe 40-60 pages (gaps here and there in page numbers) which won't be released. It's done since all blueprints are stored in the national archives, so they become public property when declassified. ie. Rusky Ivan can walk in and get a photocopy.

Should be fine, the complex was designed to withstand a direct 2.4mt impact. The Nordic granite is one of the worlds oldest and strongest rock formations, anchored walls/ceilings, it stands on springs, blast wave energy mitigation thru tunnels and blast traps. The army corps did design it for their back then obvious nuke exchange between cccp/us, I feel somewhat safe that it'll survive the byproduct.

Maybe this is a good time and place to hear opinions on this:
I read or heard somewhere, a while ago, that many bunkers will fail because fire needs air, and in the event of a nuclear or other very large explosion, air is sucked out of the ground to feed the fire. How does that factor into a bunker, large or small? Aren't there other, non-structural or supply concerns. Such as oxygen and clean air management?

>> No.522236

>>522221
I could see that happen with small backyard bunkers (tho its energy is released instantly so the burn would only last 1-2 secs?). Larger ones have air scrubbers, you only use the nbc filter after you have exhausted the air scrubbers in case of severe radiation in the outside air or worse, your air filtration system might actually not start up.

Yes, I have two intakes (pic of sealed intake) with 17x rapid closing anti-blast valves each. After an explosion the bunker seals itself mechanically by the blast wave force which flattens the cones inside the valves. CO2 scrubbers take over for the first 72h, after that you can start air generators from two deep water wells which you can keep running as far as you have diesel (military had 9 months worth). After you deem it safe you can open the blast wave valves again and filter the outside air though nbc filters.

I only have it running when I'm there working.

Hopefully that answers your questions.
