Hello, /diy/.
>Can you post the schematics of a crossbow launching system?
Nothing too complicated, but nothing too easy.

This is really more of a matter for /k/

I thought so the first.

/k/ will help you out but you might want to wait a couple of hours

I'm more /k/ than /diy/.

Here, I think this should be fairly self-explanatory. Just follow this more or less and you should be okay.

I was thinking about making a crossbow, and I still should , but some alternatives to wood I found for the bow were a flattened pvc pipe or a leaf spring.

Although this one isn't a crossbow the trigger could be adapted.

or just use a thick straight board that doesn't bend at all, and a bunch of surgical tubing (available at most every big hardware store).

Why do you think the force from a bow comes from the string and not the arms of the bow?

>crossbow launcher
You are now imaginging a gattling gun that fires crossbows that fire bolts.

you've got more than the average amount of water in your head don't you?

This is whats called a ballista, its similar in theory to a cross bow, only on a grander scale, I plan on making either a 10 ton leaf spring or coil spring - for a super high tension weaponised bolt launcher, I have seen quoted loads of 500 ~ 1500 lbs, I dunno if thats the spring load or the launch lbs but I want to be able to launch a 1" length of rebar into/through cinder block wall or cement wall the hunting applications would be ridiculous.
Probably make a smaller version for handheld purposes also.
The larger one Would probably be vehicle mounted or trailered, making a great opportunity to incorporate a engine starter motor as a cranking system so I'd not have to hand crank the cocking mechanism, just leaving a autoloading/magazine system to be created.

**NOTE TO MODS: this is not a wapon regardless of the term "weaponised" being used in line, This is purely for DIY scientific porpoises = JUST BECAUSE**

Also Might need to fashion a Steel two piece trigger, release mechanism and its housing as I imagine the amount of force on them would be too great for available/repurposed or store bought parts. I have for this plans for a wood fire energy station/forge for casting.
The over view of witch is a stone and mortar tube with an inner diameter of about 3', TEG's with scaled 1/2" ceramic tiles (TEG's are unable to withstand temps in the 1000's of °'s), an adjustable (1/2" ceramic tiled) steel fire rack - the TEG's would be switchable from 12vDC deep cycle battery storage to an electric bellows system with a dimmer style knob to adjust the O2 nozzle injection.
Other features of the fire energy station would be a gazebo style roof structure with chimney (12vDC powered fan) 100 feet of coiled copper tubing for heat collection in water for bathing and cooking - As this all is assumed to take place in a rural area where I plan to move later on this year.

just why would you even suggest making a slingshot when we're talking about bows?

>> No.509549

Search for "weaponcollector" on youtube, he has a very simple yet efficient mechanism for crossbows.
My father and I made one, and he sold it later on so I don't have any pictures, but he made it from fiberglass by drilling around it, not aluminum.
Hope it helps.
