Howdy /diy/ such a lovely day (AusFag) i though i would start a thread...
My Aunty bought two of these Dell Streak 7's for her kids and surprise surprise they both got broken.

Unit 1 the charger was ripped out on an angle and totally mangled the dock connector

Unit 2 was dropped and screen is smashed.

I was asked if i could fix them so i took the good screen from unit 1 and installed it on unit 2 with the good dock connector which made one good working tablet so now I'm left with unit 1's mangled dock connecter and unit 2's smashed screen.

Anything i can do with this thing?

Solid work with the repair!

What style connection is it? Could you replace the screen with a cheaper one and hardwire a usb in to the dock connection and therefore have something a bit more usable? from memory the dock is only a usb connection anyway

Ok, so i did not notice earlier but the screen assembly is NOT glued YES!! and a digitizer on ebay is $50 but I'm sure i could find it cheaper

>>403867
Cheers :)
not sure of the connector but looks like i won't be needing to buy an lcd now just the digitizer.

Yeah that's a better option. You can colour the polymorph with various things to match the plastic.

I actually ordered some coloring pellets but they will take ages to arrive so white will do for now.
