Hey /diy/,

I've checked the sticky and freeinfosociety is a goddamned treasure trove to teach me about electronics and really saved me from whining here, but I couldn't find a guide specific to wiring up LEDs,

Could you hook a brother up?

most LEDs you just need to toss 5v at it and you're good, a specific resistor is usually recommended on the datasheet.

This site's pretty useful. http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz

Thanks, that'll be a great help!
But ah.
Not every shop is GOOD. And as such I've got a metric fuckton of LEDs I got from a friend who has no idea what their draw is..

What colour are they? Red/orange/yellow are typically 2v 30mA, green blue, and most others are 3v 20mA. I'm talking about the standard 5mm 1000-20000 mcd variety.

I'll jot that down, thanks! If they blow out I'll know it's wrong.
Goddamn I need an amperometer. Or...Fuck. Whatever the hell the electrical impedence meter with a cathode and anode spike is called.

I found the following articles enlightening (I'm a hobbyist not an EE):
