Scopemeter?

So it isn’t a DC clamp meter, huh? I was correct in my earlier reply?

People underestimate the fun of DC clamp meters, so much bullshit goes through a power brick that ends up being 9V-24VDC.

i've always thought that clamp meters were inaccurate. it is a shame there are no beefy DMMs or dedicated high current ammeters.

>>2852289
Pretty sure there are >1000A clamp meters, but they’re not going to be on the shelf at Home Depot.

Also I believe AC readings on clamps are pretty accurate, but DC readings get a little iffy at lower currents since the earth’s magnetic interferes with it. It’s maybe 0.1-0.2A DC variance if there’s nothing else nearby.

The trick though, if you have enough wire to loop around the clamp a few times, yoy can get better readings. Take a wire carrying 1.5A that’s varying like 1.0-2.0A, if yoy wrap the thing around the clamp 5x, the meter will read 7.5A +/- the couple hundred milliamps of interference from the original 1.5A, and you can get a more accurate reading.

It’s a clamp meter. Basically every one of them in the real world will still read DC voltage, but not DC current. If we’re talking about clamp meters and I said “no DC”, why would you assume I’m talking about anything other than the clamp? Unless you haven’t had much experience and never touched a clamp meter with DC current and were under the impression that wasn’t a feature. That happened to the boomer father in-law the day he realized his Klein clamp couldn’t read DC current, I don’t think he realized it wasn’t a given like AC/DC voltage unless you spend a couple extra bucks.

Also that clamp meter clearly says (picrel), and they’re talking about the clamp very clearly as AC clamp meters almost always read DC voltage

Wew, sorry lad, just reread the other reply here >>2850749

I should’ve assumed it’s Anon’s first meter and he has very limited experience using said multimeter, let alone being around other multimeters or using them.
