Hey /diy/

Lets say your objective was to put the biggest most fucking powerful for no god damn reason diesel into an old 86 ford bronco

What would you go with? would it be a v8 in the 6-7 liter range?

Or would you opt for a straight 6 type?

And would you rather be stroking or cummin?

Pic sort of related but i dont want to lift the bronco higher than i have to, i just want to cram a shitload of torque in a smaller package for funsies

Any non I-6 Diesel is a piece of shit by default. The inline-6 is the king of all reciprocating piston engines.

Get an older 5.9 Cummins...You can set it up to make crazy HP and torque and relatively speaking, it will cost way less than trying to mod any other diesel engine...And you'll get 22+ MPG

Buy a chevy blazer and start from there.

the problem with this being that most lorry engines (and above) are designed for low rpm. In which case you need to find some gearbox with high gearing that somehow bolts on magically.

You're better of with a v8 or a v12 petrol engine

only in america would 22mpg be considered good.

For a 40 year old SUV with a big block engine replacement? Yeah, thats pretty good. Surprise, surprise, old cars get shit gas mileage. Who. Would. Have. Thunk.
