Hi

I need to ask you something. Hope this is the right board for it.

Some days ago I dropped a little acetone on a patch I have on my backpack. It's a black patch with a name of a band sewed in white.

I quickly removed the acetone with water and let it dry but I noticed that some of the white letters, if you look carefully, got a little darker and now they're grey. It must have been the black colours that stained the white due to the acetone. Do you know of some way to get them white again?

wash it with cold water again? what about using soap?

Bleach. Be careful as fuck though as if you aren't you'll make the background fucked up. Maybe use like an eye dropper?

Acetone dissolves plastics.

It's not something that can be repaired other than removing the affected area.

Acetone is a solvent, what happened is that some of the ink in the black part disolved in the acetone and was redeposited on the white part.

Your best bet is to get a toothpick or very tiny paintbrush and touch up the white area with some bleach.

Be sure to go slow, and give it some time.

Bleach will show some lightening almost immediately, but it will continue to lighten as it dries.

When you are done, wash the whole patch with a lot of water, this will remove any excess bleach so that it doesn't lighten the black part of the patch later if you get a few drops of water on it.

after I finish, should I just let it dry?
